Open Position: Tax Senior

Are you an experienced tax pro who loves solving complex puzzles but is burned out on endless client drama and random meetings?

At Tax Sherpa, you’ll go deep on tax strategy and review, record clear video walkthroughs for clients, and help level up our prep team—without being asked to “bring in a book of business.”

What This Role IS: The Pure Pursuit of Tax Excellence

• Quality lead on complex returns
  You review Individual, S‑Corp, Partnership, and multi‑entity returns for small businesses and solopreneurs, ensuring the strategies we design are executed perfectly in the filings.
  

• Deep technical review instead of shallow box‑checking
  You live in the code: spotting missed opportunities, fixing “tax leaks,” and making sure our advisory recommendations actually show up on the forms.
  

• Expert communication via video
  You record Loom/Zoom walkthroughs that translate complex returns into clear, actionable insights for clients—no hand‑holding, just concise explanations they can replay anytime.
  

• Mentorship and process improvement
  You coach preparers, give structured feedback, and help refine checklists and workflows so each season gets smoother and smarter.

What This Role IS NOT: No Sales, No "Hustle," No Endless Meetings

Most firms ask Seniors to be "Rainmakers" while also doing the work. We think that’s a recipe for burnout and sloppywork.

• NO Sales/Business Development
  You will never be asked to "bring in a book of business" or go to networking mixers. Our growth engine and marketing are already in place.
  

• NO Meeting Fatigue
  95% of client interaction is via recorded video and structured messages. Meetings are rare, intentional, and agenda-driven.
  

• NO Office Politics
  We care about accurate work, coachability, and how well you help the team win. Not who stays online the latest.

Who Will Thrive Here

• You have 4–7+ years of hands‑on experience preparing and/or reviewing individual, S‑Corp, and Partnership returns (small business and solopreneur focus is a plus).
  

• You are strong in tax research and practical application, and you enjoy figuring out “what’s actually best for this client” within the code.
  

• You are comfortable on camera for screen‑share videos and can explain your thinking in simple, direct language.
  

• You like checklists, playbooks, and tests—because they keep the bar high and the work product consistent.
  

• Credentials such as CPA or EA are great; deep competence and judgment matter more than letters alone.

• Location: Remote within the U.S., or in‑office at our Atlanta location (Chamblee/Tucker area).
  

• Clients: Motivated solopreneurs and small business owners who care about strategy, not just “getting it filed.”
  

• Focus: Advisory‑driven firm—compliance is how we implement the strategies we design, not the whole story.
  

• Culture: Quiet‑focused work, clear expectations, written processes, and a bias toward ownership and improvement.
